Impletirea în opt spire este cea care generează profilul rotund al unui fir textil. Spre deosebire de firele împletite convenționale, acest proces de fabricație este unul mult mai îndelungat, dar rezultatul este unul pe măsură. O rezistență incredibilă de rupere și o rezistență de abraziunea apropiată de cea a monofilamentelor. Profilul rotund al firului este cel care faciliteează o alunecare mai ușoară a firului pe pastila inelelor. Tehnica de împletire facilitează și faptul că firul nu reține apă, deci după folosire îndelungată firul nu crește în diametru, și, mai ales, nu se scămoșează. Firul își păstrează culoarea inițială după multiple utilizări, fiindcă pigmentul a fost aplicat individual pe toate spirele din compoziție.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
