Accentul principal la calibrarea STROFT ABR este atingerea rezistenței liniei la uzură și abraziune. Abrevierea ABR înseamnă rezistență la abraziune. Obținerea aceleiași tensiuni de rupere ca STROFT GTM este un alt obiectiv de realizat.
Aceste obiective sunt atinse într-un proces de tratare termică, prin care se aplică presiune pentru a compacta suprafața, făcând firul mai rezistent la razele UV și zgârieturi. De asemenea, absorbția apei este redusă, ceea ce îmbunătățește rezistența la nod umed, chiar și atunci când firul este scufundat pentru o lungă perioadă de timp. Ca urmare, STROFT ABR este ceva mai greu, dar poate să fie încă clasificat drept suplu.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
