Folosirea fluorocarbonului devine din ce in ce mai populara datorita celor trei caracteristici de baza ale acestui fir: indicele mix de refractie a luminii, care il face invizibil in apa, este scufundator datorita greutatii ample a compozitiei sale si, totodata, are o elasticitate mult mai mica decat a monofilamentelor
Fluorocarbonul este firul care poate fi folosit ca inaintas sau ca linie principala in multiple tehnici de pescuit: la crap, in pescuitul stationar si in pescuitul rapitorilor. Este recomandat cu precadere in situatiile in care apa este extrem de limpede si pestii sunt mofturosi sau suspiciosi. In aceste situatii, monofilamentele clasice sunt ineficiente.
Pentru cei care folosesc fluorocarbonul ca linie principala, eficienta se va dovedi in situatiile in care apa este extrem de agitata si valurile sunt mari. Fluorocarbonul se va scufunda extrem de repede, evitand suparatoarele burti ale firului.
Diametrele mici pot fi folosite ca forfac in tehnicile de pescuit stationar iar diametrele mai mari pot servi pentru monturile de crap sau ca inaintas pentru rapitori.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
